Livestock Market: Bac Ha, Vietnam

Water Buffalo's for trade

Bac Ha is a small town located in the northern hills of Vietnam and it has one of the best ethnic markets in the country. The Flower Hmong and Giay people from rural villages rush to the market every Sunday to buy, sell and trade goods and to of course, socialize.

These images below show my time exploring the animal market. Water buffalo were the animals of choice and it was interesting to see how much care and thought went into every trade. Especially in the mountain hillsides of Northern Vietnam, these water buffalo's can help pull the plows in rice fields, work as pack animals or are used to provide meat for the food industry.
